Double glazing upgrades across East Lancashire

Sound frames and failed glass. The cheaper fix, and often the right one.

What it is

What the job involves

The glazed unit comes out and a new one goes in, leaving your existing frames where they are. It is a fraction of the cost of new windows and it takes a fraction of the time, often under an hour a window. It only works if the frames are genuinely sound, so the first thing we do is tell you honestly whether they are.

Who it suits

Who it is for

Anyone with misted or blown units in frames that are otherwise fine. Misting between the panes means the seal has gone and the unit is doing nothing, but the frame around it may have years left. If the frames are warped, discoloured or no longer closing properly, this is not your answer and we will say so.

The range

What we upgrade to

Sealed units glazed to the same specification as our new windows. Argon filled, and capable of a U value as low as 0.8 W per square metre kelvin on a triple glazed unit, against the 1.6 Building Regulations ask for. Obscured, toughened and laminated where you need them, and the same range of decorative glass as the doors.

Why Win-Door Fit

Why us for upgrades

This is the job where a firm can easily talk you into the more expensive one instead. We would rather do the small job well and be the people you ring when the frames do eventually go. Charlie will look at what you have got and tell you which of the two you actually need, and he has no reason to tell you the wrong one.

What happens

Four steps, no surprises

01

You get in touch

Call, or send a message. Tell us roughly what you are after.

02

Charlie comes out

The person who quotes the job is the person who fits it. He measures properly, talks through the options, and brings samples.

03

You get a written quote

Itemised, fixed, and it stays fixed. No day-of-install extras.

04

We fit it

Clean, tidy, and gone when we said we would be. Your FENSA certificate follows in the post.

Where we cover

Where we work

We are based on Higher Causeway in Barrowford and most of our work lands within half an hour of the door.

Across Pendle that means Nelson, Colne, Brierfield, Barnoldswick and Earby, along with Barrowford itself. In Burnley we cover the town and out to Padiham. The Ribble Valley takes us to Clitheroe, Whalley and Read, where a lot of the housing stock is stone built and needs a sash or flush casement rather than a standard opener.

Westward we work throughout Blackburn with Darwen, and across Hyndburn into Accrington and Great Harwood. Rossendale brings us Rawtenstall and Haslingden.

We also travel south into North Manchester, taking in Rochdale, Bury, Middleton, Heywood and Ramsbottom.

If you are somewhere not on that list but roughly in that circle, ask. We would rather tell you yes or no on the phone than have you wondering.

We do glazing upgrades right across East Lancashire and down into North Manchester. If you are somewhere near the edge of that, ask rather than assume.

Questions

The questions we actually get asked

My windows are misted. Do I need new frames?

Probably not. Misting means the seal on the glazed unit has failed, which is the glass rather than the frame. If the frames still close properly and look right, replacing the units is the cheaper and better answer.

How much cheaper is it than new windows?

Considerably, though it depends how many. It is the difference between replacing the glass and replacing everything, and on a house with sound frames it is not close.

How long does it take?

Often under an hour a window, and most houses are done in a day. Considerably less disruption than a full replacement, and no making good afterwards.

Will it be as good as new windows?

The glazing will be, because it is the same specification. What you do not get is a new frame, so if the frames are the problem this is not the fix.

  • Can not recommend enough, they did an amazing job fitting 5 new windows into my house in two day I’m so happy with home they look. From old wooden broken down windows to new clean white double glazed sparkling new windows, they are such a nice and friends group and don’t mess around if I ever move house and need more windows I will defiantly be using them again 😁 can not recommend enough

  • Great service from start to finish. Replaced my old wooden back door with a new PVC unit, and it's made a massive difference. Top quality workmanship. Highly recommend.
